Barco a vapor

There is no better way to welcome the winners of one of Brazil’s most important children’s and young adult literature awards than through an immersive and playful experience. That was the journey Keenwork designed for the 2018 edition of the Barco a Vapor Award, organized by Fundação SM.

The project included exhibition design, scenography, and an update of the event’s visual identity, inspired by the classic steamships that gave the award its name. From this concept, we created an engaging storytelling experience that turned guests into passengers on a literary voyage. The journey began at registration, transformed into a boarding check-in, and continued throughout the ceremony with large-scale graphic panels, theatrical lighting, life buoys, gangways, and nautical signage that turned the venue into a ship in motion.

The award winner was presented as the ship’s captain and even had an exclusive cabin for book signings. The result was a unique celebration that brought together literature, design, and emotion in a single experience. A project that translated the purpose of the Barco a Vapor Award, celebrating reading and Brazilian authors, into an environment where every guest truly felt part of a journey powered by imagination.
